Sunshine Coast Airport Terminal Redevelopment

Sunshine Coast Regional Council allocated $3.6 million to the redevelopment of the Sunshine Coast Airport terminal and departure lounge.  Work commenced on upgrades in April 2009 that will significantly enhance the travelling experience for all of the airport’s commuters, visitors and staff.

The redevelopment of the airport terminal is a component of Stage One of the Airport’s Master Plan which will ultimately deliver unprecedented economic benefits to the Sunshine Coast.

The new development, designed to reflect the natural light and feel of the Sunshine Coast region, will incorporate a unique rainforest walk as well as the creation of a Richmond Birdwing Butterfly habitat.

The redevelopment also included additional amenities, Wi-Fi internet, an enlarged departure lounge, and a greater range of shops including the Sunshine Coast’s unique Jewellery Lounge.  Sunshine Coast Airport welcomes new operators Spotless and AWPL Property Solutions who will establish a number of retail and food and beverage outlets including Sumo Salad, Velluto Coffee, The Glass House Bar, Rip Curl and News Travels as well as locally owned and operated Mudjimba Cafe The Loaded Lizard.

Work were completed in January 2010.
