As a key infrastructure asset for the Sunshine Coast the Sunshine Coast Airport generates a significant contribution to the wellbeing of the local region via employment and economic output. However, the airport also recognizes the great importance of social wellbeing of the community it serves and funds are allocated annually for a community sponsorship scheme.
Sunshine Coast Airport has stong links with the local community via sponsorship of events, programs, charities and festivals.

 | Marcoola Coast Care Marcoola Coast Care is a community group committed to undertaking dune and bushland rehabilitation in the local Marcoola area. |
 | Australian PGA Championship The Hyatt Regency Coolum, home of the Australian PGA Championships, will once again play host to the 2009 championships in December. Crowds are expected to flock to Coolum to see a host of top players including defending champion Geoff Ogilvy, Vijay Singh, Queenslander Adam Scott and three time major winner John Daly all of whome will no doubt be among many crowd favourties.  | Opera on Kings Held each year in April at the Kings Beach Ampitheatre, Opera on Kings is a free community event with a family program of classic opera such as Romeo and Juliette, Rigoletto and La Boheme. The event is designed to provide an uplifting evening of music and song which allows patrons to bring a rug and picnic or to sample the food tastes from local venues under the stars.
