Sunshine Coast Airport’s Master Plan 2040 has been given the green light, facilitating future growth and economic activity in the region for the next two decades.
Following 10 weeks of community consultation, the Draft Master Plan was considered by Sunshine Coast Council at yesterday’s Ordinary Meeting in Nambour.
Sunshine Coast Airport Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Brodie, said it was a positive gear change for the region as a whole.
“This decision means we can now progress planning on the initiatives we’ve put forward to fully unlock the Coast’s potential,” Mr Brodie said.
“Council’s decision is a vote of confidence – not just in us as an Airport but for the aviation industry here on the Coast, local businesses and the wider community.
“We’re already Australia’s fastest growing airport, with additional services coming online all the time and a new runway ready to launch at the end of next year.
“We’re excited to look to the future now, working with our community, regulatory authorities and environmental groups as a priority to make sure we continue to develop additional facilities such as an expanded terminal building, freight capacity and improved ground transport in a safe, secure and responsible manner.”
