Years of dedication and service to the airport industry has led to national recognition for Sunshine Coast Airport general manager Peter Pallot.

At the Australian Airports Association (AAA) National Airport Industry Awards in Canberra last night, Mr Pallot received the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Airport Industry.

The award recognised Mr Pallot’s contribution to the development of the industry and strengthening the Queensland division of the AAA.

He has served as AAA Queensland Division Chair and on the AAA Board as Queensland Director.

The AAA said Mr Pallot had overseen the significant growth of the Queensland division and had been a pivotal contributor to airport industry.

“In his 36 years in the industry, Peter has displayed a passion for regional airports and in developing our industry through education and training,” the association said.

“Peter is always at the end of the phone to assist any airport member in need of advice or assistance and has been a mentor to many in the industry.”

The conference was Mr Pallot’s last as Queensland division chair with Rob Porter from Mackay Airport asumming the role.

Acting Mayor Cr Tim Dwyer attended the conference as a guest speaker and was pleased to be on hand to help Mr Pallot celebrate his success.

“To be recognised in this way by your Industry is indeed an honour and we are proud to have him lead and represent Sunshine Coast Airport,” Cr Dwyer said.

“Peter has been general manager at Sunshine Coast Airport for more than 10 years and has always championed the growth and development of the airport.
“There isn’t a better man for the job.”

Mr Pallot was back on deck at Sunshine Coast Airport this morning to celebrate with the rest of his team, without whom he said he could never have achieved such an honour.

“I was deeply honoured to be recognised for my service to the industry and I thank all of my colleagues at the airport for being part of that journey and being the best airport team in the country,” he said.

The ceremony, held at Parliament House in Canberra, was attended by more than 500 airport industry leaders as well as Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese.
