Update: 9.00pm 10/03/2025
Sunshine Coast Airport is now operating as normal. We are not anticipating any further changes to this status.
We thank all staff and passengers for their patience, understanding and support throughout this weather event.
We are still encouraging passengers to continue to monitor the status of their flight and stay up to date with the latest information from their airline while the current rainfall persists. Should you have any questions regarding a flight cancellation caused by this weather event, please contact your airline directly.
While the airport is operating as normal, there are areas across the Sunshine Coast that are experiencing flooding. Please take the necessary precautions and stay safe when travelling to and from the airport. Always remember – if it’s flooded, forget it.
Update: 3.30pm 08/03/2025
All domestic passenger flights to and from Sunshine Coast Airport are planned to operate as per schedule tomorrow (Sunday 9 March). The Sunshine Coast Airport Terminal will open tomorrow in line with scheduled services and return to normal operations.
The Terminal remains closed today (8 March) with all scheduled flights suspended for the remainder of today.
We encourage all passengers to continue to stay up to date with the latest flight information through their airline. Passengers can view the status of flights via our website here: https://www.sunshinecoastairport.com.au/
If passengers have any questions, they should contact their airline directly.
Please take care on the roads and remember – if it’s flooded, forget it.
Update: 8pm 07/03/2025
Important update: All passenger flights in and out of Sunshine Coast Airport will be suspended tomorrow following the last scheduled airline service tonight at 8.35pm (7 March).
All passengers should speak directly to their airline and not travel to the airport for cancelled flights.
The Sunshine Coast Airport Terminal will close to members of the public following the departure of the final scheduled service. Passengers will need to find alternate accommodation and Sunshine Coast Council are offering places of refuge here: https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/living-and-community/community-safety/disasters/places-of-refuge
The aerodrome will remain open for emergency services, Defence and aeromedical operations, while it is safe to do so.

Sunshine Coast Airport remains open however some airlines have cancelled services and there is the potential for more cancellations over the next 24hrs.
All passengers are advised to continue monitoring the status of their flight and stay-up-to date with the latest information from their airline. Passengers should speak directly to their airlines and not travel to the airport for cancelled flights.

We are continuing to monitor Tropical Cyclone Alfred as the situation develops. Currently, the airport is operating as normal for all arriving and departing passengers. Passengers are advised to stay up to date with the latest information from their airline as Alfred moves closer to the coast.
For passengers travelling to and from Sunshine Coast Airport over the coming days, Qantas, Jetstar Australia and Virgin Australia are offering customers with an opportunity to change flight or manage their booking ahead of any weather impacts.
