BindiMaps - Digital Accessible Wayfinding Solution
What is BindiMaps?
To help passengers of all abilities navigate the Sunshine Coast Airport terminal, we have partnered with digital accessible wayfinding solution BindiMaps. The BindiMaps technology was designed with input from hundreds of blind and vision impaired users to ensure the highest possible levels of accessibility and inclusivity.
BindiMaps is a mobile app that locates users precisely in indoor spaces. It uses a simple, natural language audio system to describe where users are and what’s around them, and the best way to get to their chosen destination.
How does it work?
The BindiMaps app uses a network of Bluetooth beacons and smartphone sensors to offer users a choice of text, map view, or audio directions that guide users through the airport using accurate, real-time, and step-by-step directions to any destination.
There are two BindiMaps kiosks located within our terminal:
- Main check-in area
- Departures
