The airport is officially known as the Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast Airport and is situated on the coastal strip five kilometres north of Maroochydore. The airport is located just north of the Maroochy River and east of the Sunshine Motorway.

Situated on some 350 hectares, the airport lies between Caloundra to the south and Noosa Heads to the north.

The Sunshine Coast Airport is the gateway to some of Queensland's most beautiful holiday destinations in Maroochy, Noosa and Caloundra shires.
